baby's first photo

on friday we went in to get our first ultrasound as part of some testing to see how the baby is doing. the technician was a little rough and unfriendly. ken took a couple hours off in the afternoon so that he could be there as well and they didn't even let him come in for the whole thing. the first 20 minutes consisted of me getting poked and prodded in the abdomen as the tech clicked away. she wasn't talking to me at all or telling me what was going on so i just kept busy staring at the wall and ceiling. then after what seemed like a really long time, she asked what my husband's name was and then went out to the waiting room to get him. once ken was in the room, she then turned the computer monitor to face me and explained where the baby was, pointing out head, heart, arms, hands, legs, and feet. while it was neat hearing the heartbeat on monday, it was completely different actually seeing the baby for the first time. we could see him/her moving around his/her little arms and legs, see his/her little heart beating...i think both of us were feeling a bit emotional. it just brought it to a new level of realness. she printed out two pics for us, which we've scanned in above. can you tell what's what? kinda looks like an alien to me. :oP in the bottom pic, i'm convinced that the baby is waving at us...looks like a little hand at the top of the screen next to his/her body. also on friday, i told my coworkers that i'm expecting. it's a bit of a relief that it's out in the open now...especially since i'm running out of flowy tops! no weight gain yet, but my midsection is definitely expanding. i'll try and get a pic up soon.
