playing catch-up

it's been a while since i've blogged so i'm going to backtrack a bit and do a photo recap:

after we got back from maui, nathan and i paid a visit to heather and her newest addition safia. nathan loves pointing out babies. what he doesn't like so much is mommy patting and shushing other babies. guess he thinks those actions should be reserved for him only. in the above photo, nathan, kian and menyelek decided to start jamming on the piano at heather's. it's been fun having play dates with these guys and we think the kiddies like it too. we always end up staying out way past nap time.

last weekend, we bundled up and headed out to the markham santa claus parade. this was the first time we got nathan out in his snowpants. he has a bit of trouble running in them and ended up falling forward a couple of times. he is quite the sight in his marshmallow outfit.  ;o)  we didn't end up seeing santa. it just got tooooooo cold, so we ended up walking down main st. to find a place to eat. we actually did catch a glimpse of santa, but it was while we were seated inside a warm restaurant whilst waiting for our lunch. seems like we should've just been watching the parade from there to begin with!

this past friday, we went downtown to the distillery district for the first annual toronto christmas market. seeing as we were in germany for the christmas markets last year, the toronto one wasn't much to write home about. it looked nice, but there were only 2 booths selling food and it was quite expensive. it just didn't have the same atmosphere as the european markets, but i guess since they've been doing them for hundreds of years, they kind of have a leg up on toronto.

nathan really enjoyed playing in the life-size gingerbread house at the market though. we were there on the opening night of the market and i really wonder what this house is going to look like by the end of it (in two weeks' time). it was already getting kind of wrecked up only a few hours in, but i guess that's to be expected. some of the more destructive boys were smashing parts of it. our boy was content to just run in and out of the doorways and peek out the windows.  :o)
