another trip to the doctor
so today we went to the doctor for nathan's 4-month check-up. we all had our guesses as to how much he weighs...so the moment of truth arrived. mommy's guess was 13 lbs. daddy's was 14 lbs. actual weight: 6.6 kgs/14.5 lbs. beyond both our expectations! he also measured in at 63 cm./25 in. in length. of course, another trip to the doctor means another round of immunizations. this time around i held him in my arms as my mom held his little leg while the nurse administered the needle. everything was fine as i cradled him in my arms. he seemed quite calm, though hungry. then as the nurse stuck him with the needle, his eyes widened in surprise (as if thinking, what the hey?) and then came the loud cry. i felt so bad for him and wondered if maybe he felt betrayed by me. he was still crying a lot by the time he got stuck with the second needle. crying aside, this time he seemed to react a bit better (afterwards)...only a mild fever this time and no swelling at the site of the shot. it's been a while since we posted a pic, so here's one from happier times. :o)

Did he do the scrunched-up, lip-out pouty-face when he was getting jabbed? Because, as much as that foreshadows a scream-fest, he *does* look awfully cute when he's doing it.
i'm pretty sure there was a quivering of the lower lip. it all happened quite fast though. startled wide-eyed expression; loud howling. the startled expression pre-howling was awfully funny/cute though. my poor babe.
