four months old!

our boy is four months old today. how quickly time has passed. nathan is getting so big! we go for his four month check-up next week so we'll find out exactly how much he weighs then. i'm guessing at least 13 lbs. we were hoping to put him on a schedule, but it would seem that he has put himself on one. he naps about 3 times a day roughly at the same times. for the most part, it's been quite easy taking care of him. we also went to the baby show this past weekend and attended a seminar on sleep training and decided to give it a go this week. so we end his evening with a feed around 10-ish, then a bath, and then straight into the crib. the sleep doula said that it's key to put them in the crib while they're awake (rather than drowsy, but awake). for the last two nights it has worked very well. he's wide awake after the bath, but puts himself to sleep in his crib after we turn down the lights and turn on his music. and he stays there until about 8 a.m.! he doesn't even cry when he wakes up. just lies there in his crib sucking his thumb. yes, thumb sucking is probably a bad habit, but we can't break him of it right now. believe me, we've tried. for now, we'll just be glad that he puts himself to sleep and stays there until morning!

*update: never write about nathan's good sleep habits again...as i write this, daddy is trying to put nate to sleep. he has been crying/screaming for most of the night. :oP
