strawberry festival

we took advantage of the fantastic weather today and drove up to stouffville for their strawberry festival. we had hoped to head up a bit earlier, but didn't end up getting there until 11:00 a.m.. it was already starting to get very hot at that point (i think the temp. went up to 30 today and factoring the humidex, it was probably closer to 34). it was very comfortable in the shade ... not so great walking around in the blaring sun for hours though. nathan was a trooper and stayed in the stroller for longer than i thought he might. by the time he started complaining, his head was already all sweaty. he had considerably more fun once ken started carrying him ... oh and also when he was able to get down and walk around himself.

there weren't any activities that nathan could do, but lots of stuff for kids just a bit older. we went in search of the free pony rides, but couldn't find it after walking up and down main street twice. oh well...maybe next year. chances are that nathan would've freaked out when we plopped him down on the pony anyway. i neglected to print out the schedule of events before we left home thinking that there would be ones posted there ... my bad! looking at it now, it would appear that we also missed out on the bouncing balls corral and petting zoo as well. they really should have better signage! anyway, we entertained ourselves by eating instead. since we were at the strawberry festival, we felt that we couldn't leave without eating at least one or two strawberry-related items. nathan seemed to really enjoy the strawberries and ice cream ... though after his fifth strawberry, he just started spitting them back out and just going for the vanilla ice cream instead. i guess fruit just can't compare with ice cream!
