nathan was quite the hit with the girls at the park today. there was a little girl around 3 years of age that wanted to play with him as soon as we got him out of his bike trailer. she kept yelling "c'mon, baby! let's play!" and they chased after each other all full of giggles. she left about 10 or so minutes later. nathan seemed content to play on his own, running up and down all the ramps, going down the slide, climbing over steps, watching the other kids periodically. then when he wandered over to the other side of the park with the bigger slides, he was spotted by another little girl. i later found out that they were born the same year, but she was about 6 months older. anyway, she spotted nathan walking past the slide and chased after him. he stopped to see who was following him. she saw that has her opportunity to advance towards him, arms open wide. nathan wasn't sure he liked where this was going. he began to protest. she tried to wrap her chubby arms around him as he tried to push her away with one arm. she was persistent. nathan really started to whine and complain. i couldn't help laughing and i wasn't sure if (as a good mother), i should intervene, but basically i let it play out since he wasn't in any harm. then the little girl put one hand on each of nathan's shoulders, looked him in the face, cocked her head to the side and slowly leaned in and kissed him full on the lips! hahahaha he didn't like this *at all*! immediately he started to cry, with big tears rolling down his cheeks. the terrible mother that i am, i found it all quite hilarious, but decided that it was probably time to step in and so i carried him away from this lil kissing bandit. but man oh man did i wish that i had my camera with me and could've gotten it on video!
