birthday boy

you know you're getting old when you ponder on how quickly time has passed. or maybe that's a parent thing. i still remember my dad always saying how i've grown up in the blink of an eye. i definitely feel that way about this last year with nathan. i really can't believe that it has already been a year since he's been in our lives. it all seems to have gone by so fast. just one year ago today, nathan was a wee 4.13 lbs. now he's 20+! (we haven't weighed him yet to know for sure) we feel so blessed to have nathan in our life and can't even imagine what life would be like without him in it. we've had quite the year with him. from day one, he took us on a roller coaster. he surprised us with his early arrival and parenthood started off like we never would've imagined. we went on three family trips this year; two by plane. nathan is a surprisingly good baby on planes. well, the people around us probably think he's good, but for us, it's still a test of patience especially now that he moves around so much. but as long as we're not bothering people around us, then it's all good. don't know how many trips we'll really get to go on next year, but i imagine that it'll only get harder from here on out since nathan already wants to move around everywhere himself. as soon as you put him on the ground, he takes off crawling super fast. no walking yet; not even standing unsupported. i'm not that eager for him to start walking. i figure he'll just be able to get into more mischief the more mobile he gets.

birthday party this weekend! hopefully naters won't get too freaked out by a room full of people singing to him. :o)
