As of 25 minutes ago we should have had our seat belts fastened, tray tables locked and seats in an upright position as we took off for tokyo. however, as you can probably tell this is not the reality.
last night nate ended up being quite fussy with a congested cough and with a runny nose. in addition, his head was feeling a little hotter then previously in the day. for the sake of nathan, an executive decision was made at 4am to fore-go japan for the more stable environment of hk where we have an easier time communicating and also a pediatrician to visit if necessary. the fact that momma is coughing (due to allergies), grandma is coughing (due to who knows), and this whole H1N1 scare (where hk/china is quarantining anyone at the airport with a fever regardless of arriving or departing) makes the decision to err on the side of caution a little easier. thankfully, we all got travel insurance and hopefully the process of reimbursement is not too difficult.
it's hard not to be disappointed about the trip. japan is a place that kathy has always wanted to go and that i have very little recollection of going to. it's hard seeing when we might have another chance to visit the land of the rising sun while raising our young son. having said that we're just praying nathan gets better.
