the last of our excursions during our staycation. went to the ex yesterday with naters. always thought the ex wasn't that big...not too many things to see, but yesterday we discovered that there's actually a lot! maybe we never noticed cuz we never had reason to venture into the kids area. we look forward to going back with nathan when he's older and can actually go on some rides. basically all we did yesterday was walk and eat. and eat. and eat. who knew we could eat so many of those tiny tom donuts? and they were delicious!
we also took nathan on the streetcar for the first time. he seemed to like it and practiced good safety by holding onto the pole while standing with daddy. :o)
of course, we ended up getting tempted by all the game booths. we tried a couple (like the one where you roll the bowling ball over a hump and try to make it rest in the second dip), but no success. i wanted to try one of the ones where you roll a golf ball into a hole to make your horse go faster. similar to skeetball, i guess. but didn't like those prizes. then saw this shooting one where water squirts out and you aim for the centre of the target. they didn't seem too busy so i thought i'd have a better chance of winning against just one person. so we paid and i sat down waiting for a challenger. a minute later this youngish guy sits down. i think i'm done for since he seems the type to have lots of experience playing video games and possibly has better hand-eye coordination than me. but...as you can see from the above photo...i smoked him! haha who knew i was so competitive?
all in all, it was a fun day...but too windy and chilly for august. where is the summer???
